- Discussion questions: Why did Clementine call her brother
vegetable names? Have you ever done errands for an adult? What are
some jobs you could do? How would you use the money you earn?
- Language arts: Make a list of Clementine's invented words and
figure out the correct word.
- Writing: Clementine is afraid of pointy things. Write about what
scares you.
- Math: Make up math problems about pigeons and Cheerios.
- Science: Study pigeons. Why did Clementine's father need to get
rid of them?
- Social Studies: Discuss living in an apartment building versus a
house. Discuss the mothers' different jobs.
- Drama: Make a reader's theater of one chapter of the book.
- Cooking/Food: What is a Clementine? If you can find one, taste it.
- Art: Use colorful markers to make cartoons like Clementine's
mother made.
- Music: Sing Oh My Darling Clementine Make up a new verse to go
with the story.
- Movement: Pretend to ride up and down on an elevator. Describe how
you feel.
- Technology Use a Venn diagram on Kidspiration to compare
Clementine and Margaret or to compare their mothers.
- Compare and Contrast: Clementine to Junie B. or another
storybook heroine who gets into mischief.
