Superhero ABC

Humorously named superheroes such as Goo Girl  and The Volcano represent the letters of the alphabet from A to Z.

Book Activities

    • Questions:  Discuss superheroes vs. heroes. List characteristics of heroes.
    • Language arts: Assign each child a letter and make up new superheroes for a class book. Use speech bubbles. Read appropriate comic books or graphic novels.
    • Writing: Write alliterative sentences to describe yourself or a hero
    • Math: Make up math problems related to super powers such as lifting, flying, jumping, etc.
    • Science: What kinds of super human talents do super heroes have? (Seeing through walls, etc)
    • Social Studies: Compare tall tale heroes to modern day heroes. Make a Venn diagram on paper or computer.
    • Drama: Have each child read a page in a "dramatic" superhero voice.
    • Art: Illustrate superhero pages cartoon style and use speech bubbles.
    • Music: Play themes from Spiderman, Superman, Batman, Fantastic Four. How does the music make you feel?
    • Museum: Allow each child to bring in one action figure for a mini-museum.
