During the month of April 2001, ten eighth grade students from Charleston Middle School prepared daily weather reports for broadcast following the morning annoucements. |
They began by locating sources of real-time weather data on the Internet... |
...and viewed live TV weather reports to see how professional meteorologists share atmospheric conditions. |
They practiced in front of the camera to develop poise and confidence... |
...and created a large map of Illinois with symbols to represent different types of weather. |
Finally, they shared the latest weather conditions and forecast with their CMS audience. |
As a reward for all of their hard work, the CMS Weather Team visited the WCIA-TV studio in Champaign, IL on May 2nd to view a live noon news and weather broadcast and meet the staff. ( Click on the image to go to the site for WCMS Weather Team Visits WCIA-TV ) | |
