The EIU Dancers is a university recognized student organization sponsored by the Physical Education Department. Auditions are held yearly in September, resulting in a membership of 20 to 25 men and women EIU students. The club members start immediatly to work on enhancing their dance skills and preparing for their annual spring concert, held on a weekend in March or April. The concert displays a mixture of dance styles including modern, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and exhibitional ballroom. The dancers are choreographed by student members as well as the two faculty sponsors. The EIU Dancers have been a part of campus life for a number of years and the concert is a culmination of the year's work. The concert is held on the stage in Mcafee gym, and the public is invited to the admission-free event.
