Attendance: Attendance is required in all laboratory meetings.
Missed laboratory work or
examinations can be made up only when accompanied by an acceptable written
excuse. While attendance is not required in lecture, it is expected
that students
will attend all class sessions.
Animal All of the experiments in Endocrinology involve animals or human subjects.
Experiments: Students will be instructed in the proper treatment of animals and safe conduct
of experiments. A student who has strong ethical objections or a medical
condition that will prevent him or her from participating in an experiment should
notify the instructor in advance so alternatives can be arranged.
Lab Reports: Students will write
eight lab reports based
on experiments performed in the
laboratory. A penalty will be assessed for lab reports turned in
after the due date.
Term Papers: Each student will write a term paper on a
topic of his or her choice and present a
summary of the paper to the class. Due dates will be arranged individually.
Academic Students are expected to be
honest and to adhere strictly to the University's
Integrity:
academic
integrity standards. Cheating, plagiarism, lying, or falsifying
data
will not be tolerated.
Grades: Grades will be based on numerical scores achieved on the following:
Eight lab reports 150 points total
Term paper
100 points
Three exams
100 points each
Final exam
150 points
Total possible 700 points
A total score of 630 points (90%) or above assures a grade of A, 560 (80%)
or
above B, 490 (70%) or above C, 420 (60%) or above D.
Lab Fee: A fee of $25 will be assessed from each student
enrolled on the 10th class day to
help with the cost of laboratory supplies and the Lilly tour.
Disabilities: Persons with special needs should make these needs known to the instructor.
