Activities
|
- Discussion questions: What are some reasons you sneeze? How does Sam
try get himself to sneeze?What do his friends do to get Sam to
sneeze?
- Reading/oral language: Point out onomatopoeia in the book.
Point out the rhyming names of the animals. Brainstorm for other
animals and make up rhyming names.
- Writing: Write a story about an animal who has hiccups. How
will his friends help him to stop?
- Math: Find statistics on sneezing. What is the speed of a
sneeze? What is the longest sneezing streak?
- Science: Is sneezing a good thing? Why do we sneeze? Study sneezing and other
involuntary reflexes. How do we protect others from our sneezes?
- Social Studies: What are the customs/beliefs and sayings associated
with sneezing, i. e. Bless you!
- Cooking/Snack: Pepper makes many people sneeze? What foods
have pepper in them?
- Art/Drama: Act out different sections in the book with
children as different animals. Make animal masks or use puppets.
- Music/Movement: Pantomime sneezing, hiccups, coughs, and
other body reflexes.
- Technology integration: Make a picture in Kidspiration of
the animals. Give each animal a speech bubble and type advice in the
bubble.
