This book travels all around the world following the story of Cinderella. With a few twists on the version we know, the book incorporates other cultures in the story line. In the end, the King finds his Queen.

Book Activities

    • Discussion questions:  What is the Cinderella story that we all know? Do you like familiar stories that are changed? How many countries are included in the story? There are over 800 versions of the Cinderella story worldwide.
    • Reading/oral language: Read several Cinderella variants. Which is you favorite? Why? Point out metaphors and similes.
    • Writing:  Write your own version of Cinderella after reading or viewing a variant
    • Math: Count how many countries are mentioned in the book.
    • Science: Make a list of all the animals found in the Cinderella tales. Research them and explain why they were chosen, i.e. the stepmother is called a scorpion.
    • Social Studies: Find all of the countries on a map that were included in the book. Countries are shown on the end papers.Study shoes around the world. How many different kinds of shoes can you think of?
    • Cooking/Snack: Cook or taste the food that was mentioned in the book, i.e. rice, apricots, honey.
    • Art/Drama: Draw a slipper, coach, crown or some other object from the story..
    • Music/Movement: Watch ball room dancing. (Dancing with the stars or a segment of a Disney's Cinderella) Learn a simple dance in PE.
    • Technology integration: In Kid Pix backgrounds, there are coloring pages including a crown. There are also castle backgrounds to make a picture related to the book. Use a Smart board and a world map to locate Cinderella versions.
