Associate Professor, Journalism Department, Eastern Illinois University
Eastern Illinois University has been my home since 2003. I have taught since 1981 at Butler University, the University of Indianapolis, Indiana University and now at Eastern. I have also taught in the graduate journalism program for Ball State University and at IUPUI.
In addition to teaching I have been the editor of The Morgan County Gazette, Martinsville, Ind., the public information director for the Indiana State Highway Commission, speechwriter and assistant press secretary to Governor Otis R. Bowen, M.D., a public relations assistant at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and account director for Borshoff Ketchum Public Relations and Marketing. In addition, I was vice president of Futureset and Johnson & Associates public relations counselors. Currently, I am an associate with Airvan Consulting, LLC.
