            How useful is Eric Maria Remarque to the historian? To what extent does All Quiet on the Western Front help explain the causes, course, and consequences of the Great War (1914-1918)? Use Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front (at least five specific quotes or points and analysis) and at least four documents Tierney and Scott, Documentary, section 12 and handouts (at least five specific quotes or points and analysis) to help prove your argument. Are there especial strengths of Remarque? Weakness (points he does not explain or explains wrongly)? Base your argument at least in part in comparing and contrasting the sources. For context, use Perry, et. al., Western Civilization, chs. 29, 31.
