Is 0.89 m "reasonable"?
0.89 meters is only about three feet!
Do you think there might be more than three feet of the hull under the water?
The "displacement" of the ship is the amount of water it displaces. That is equal to the volume of the water displaced by the amount of the hull that is under the water. Find that volume, change it to the mass of the water and set that equal to the mass of the ship, 77 x 106 kg.(c) 2000, Doug Davis; all rights reserved.
