Machines Levers
Machines transfer work from one place to another. In doing this, they often change the amount of a force that is needed. People are usually limited in the amount of force that can be exerted. In reducing the amount of force required to do some work, there will be a corresponding increase in the distance through which the smaller force acts.
Levers are a good example of a machine.
