CMS students measured the length of the shadow of a meter
stick at solar noon on the Autumnal Equinox, the first day of fall.
They compared their data to measurements made by students from other
schools and in other states via the Internet. They also measured the
angle of the shadow. This activity will be repeated on the Vernal
Equinox, the first day of spring. Does the Sun always cast the
shortest shadow at noon? Is there a connection between the angle of
the shadow and your location on the Earth?
