7th & GLORY

History

During June of 1983, a house was purchased on the corner of Lincoln Ave. and 7th Street. After six months of remodeling, pouring a driveway, landscaping, buying fixtures, and ordering inventory, the building was finally transformed into a completed retail store. Then in December of 1983, 7th and Glory celebrated its grand opening.

Nature of Business

7th and Glory is a full service Christian supply store for all of Coles County and surrounding areas. Our goal is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ by providing quality Bibles, books, music, videos, T-shirts, gifts, cards, jewelry, wedding accessories, curriculum, and collectibles.

Qualities & Skills Needed for Employment

Skills most beneficial for employment at 7th and Glory would be those involving communication, sales, computers, accounting, reading, and decorating. Important personal qualities include being helpful, sincere, honest, punctual, enthusiastic, courteous, and committed.

Impact of Changing Technologies

Ultimately, technology helps to more quickly and accurately serve our customers. Computers provide for immediate access to locate and order products, speedy customer purchasing though use of point-of-sale bar code scanners, and more detailed inventory control and accounting capabilities.

Vision for 2020

By the year 2020 our store would like to become what is commonly known as a megastore. Along with offering the largest selection of Christian merchandise, our store would expand into such areas as a coffee shop/cafe, collectibles center, and health food store. This would enable us to further meet the needs of our customers spirit, soul, and body.

To accomplish this goal, we would need a larger building and parking area, expanded staff, a bigger storage room, and more office space.
