Here we consider a uniform rod of length 2, -1 < x < 1, with constant thermal properties.  Appropriate boundary conditions insure that this models the circular ring. Initial temperature is f(x) = x^2, and k = 1/10.  Below we animate the temperature distribution for 5 seconds. Only the first 15 terms in the infinite series solution to the Heat Equation are used.
