Mail Dr. Dao
- His research areas of specialization include public finance
and economic development in South and Southeast Asia. He is currently
interested in research on the growth of government and on the
economics of aging. Other research interests are in the areas
of labor-managed firms in developing countries, rural development,
and socioeconomic problems of Vietnamese elderly immigrants living
in the United States. He has published several articles in the
Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics,
the Journal of Economic Studies, Applied
Economics Letters, and Studi Economici
as well as the Journal of Contemporary Asia.
He has served as referee for the Journal of Economics
and the Journal of Contemporary Business Issues.
He also reviewed a book, Readings in Public Finance,
2nd edition, by Samuel H. Baker and Catherine S. Elliott.

- Dr. Dao has served as advisor to the Educational Affairs Committee
of the Student Society for Economics, also known as the Economics Club,
at Eastern Illinois University. Within the Economics Department,
he is a member of the Graduate Assistant Selection Committee,
the Application Screening Committee, and the Assessment and Review
of the Major Committees.
He is currently chair of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee
and has served as Library Coordinator for the department since
Fall of 1990. At the college level, Dr. Dao has been research
advocate for the social sciences and in that capacity has been
partially responsible for grant and fellowship award opportunities
which are monthly published in the College of Sciences GRANTLINE.
At the University level, he served on the Council on Faculty Research
from 1989 to 1993. He will serve another term on this Council
beginning in the Fall of 1996. He has also been serving as a reader/scorer
for the Writing Competency Examination.
While on the Council on Graduate Studies from 1990 to 1996, he
has been chair of the Student Appeals Committee. He has represented
the Council at the Committee on Academic Computing and the University
Academic Assessment Committee. He has also served as Vice-Chair
of the Council.
