LASO is as an RSO at Eastern Illinois University. Events are hosted on Thursdays at 5:00pm at the MLK Unions thrid floor Effingham room. Everyone is welcomed to come in an socialize and get to know the executive board as well.
LASO's mission is To promote and address the issues of educational, cultural, and social aspects of the Latino communities on all levels. Which will be addressed with workshops, lectures, events, performances, etc. LASO will also help To provide assistance to incoming and enrolled students, and to help them adapt to life at Eastern Illinois University. To support all members to achieve their fullest potential by providing social, academic leadership, and spiritual growth experiences.

Yolanda Botello is LASO's Secretary. She is a Senior majoring in Special Education.
Yolanda joined LASO as a body member last year because the club gave her a sense of being at home and felt like she belonged in a predominantly white institution. It has been something she looks forward to every week, because there are other individuals who look like her. Fun fact: She was born with a tooth. |
Angel Enriquez is the Treasurer of LASO. He is a Junior majoring in Environmental Science.
Angel decided to join LASO because he wanted to be in the executive board and experience the duties it comes with since he has never been in an executive board before. Fun fact: He played rugby. |
